Thankful Thursday

Another Thankful Thursday is here, what are you thankful for this week? I am very thankful for my rock solid marriage that is built upon the Solid Rock. Lovebug was on vacation last week, money is really tight right now, as it is for nearly everyone, so we did not go away on vacation, just stayed home. But, that was ok with us. Bless dear lovebugs heart, I have not been feeling well, so he spent alot of time taking care of me. He is such a treasure to my heart, he is my heart. Our hearts beat in rhythm to each other. Actually, we are like two bodies with one heart. I am so thankful for my lovebug. He is so good to me, and for me. I got emotionally upset last night, crying like a baby. He comes into our bedroom, sits down on the bed, and lovingly asks me what is wrong. I tell him I am fine, he says no your not. I start crying harder, he pulls me into his arms(my place of refuge), and rocks me like a little baby until I quit crying. Then, he listens patiently as I tell him what is bothering me. What is the problem? The mirror!! He looks at me, and says, what are you talking about? I tell him, I hate the mirror. Every time I see myself in it, I just want to cry. I am not the woman he married almost 25 years ago. I have no hair, hardly any eyebrows, I am overweight, and my eyes are so very weak and tired. I have dark circles under my eyes that look like luggage, I am 45, but look so much older. I tell him I am sorry that I have become so unattractive, and that I feel sorry for him having to be married to me. He looked straight into my eyes, and said the following: No, you are not that woman I married almost 25 years ago, and I am not the man you married almost 25 years ago. We are two people even more crazy in love than we were then. When I look at you, I still see that 21 year old beautiful bride, except you are even more beautiful now. As he put his hand upon my head, and began to rub it, he said to me that my battle scars look lovely on me. Of course, at this point, I am crying again, but it was tears of joy this time. From now on, I am not going to worry about the mirror anymore, all I have to do is look into dear lovebugs eyes to see my reflection shining through his precious eyes of love, and I will know I am still his beautiful bride, and he is my handsome groom.

Walk With Him Wednesday

As most of you know, my health is a daily battle. But, my God takes such wonderful care of me. He is my true physician. Diabetes has caused various problems, such as heart blockages, vision problems, kidney problems, and nerve damage throughout my body. But, I do not need to worry over these things. The best prescription is to love the Lord with all my heart, soul, body, and mind. I truly do love Him, I belong to Him. Reading His precious Word, gives me daily strength to face whatever may come my way. Because of my Bible, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that He is the great Physician. I have vision problems: He is my ophthalmologist, He healed the blind throughout the Bible. I have heart blockages: Who better to heal my heart, than the One who created my heart, and lives within my heart?
"
"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases ..." (Psalm 103:2)
"Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He guards all his bones; not one of them is broken." (Psalm 34:19)
"For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds," says the Lord. (Jeremiah 30:17)
"O Lord my God, I cried out to You, and You have healed me." (Psalm 30:2)
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds ... Great is our Lord, and mighty in power ..." (Psalm 147:3)
"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19)
"But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing." (Psalm 34:10)
"For the Lord is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly." (Psalm 84:11)
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." (John 10:10) ... for she said to herself, "If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well." But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, "Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well." (Matthew 9:21) I choose to be faithful like this precious one, I believe, now, and forever, in His healing powers.

God Is Unchangeable

God is unchangeable! The Lord says of Himself, "For I am the Lord, I change not"(Mal.3:6). "Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever" (Heb.13:8). "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning" (James 1:17). In 2009 God's love, kindness and mercy, remain ever the same as in the past. "For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but My kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of My peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee" (Is.54:10). .

God's kindness, mercy, love and goodness, will always remain the same for those who sincerely believe in Him, in His salvation, and desire to follow Him. Everything else in this life is unstable and cannot be depended upon: riches do not last, friends often forsake us, our health inevitably gives way to various sicknesses and finally to death. But God, our gracious and merciful heavenly Father who loves us in Christ our dear Savior, remains unchanging and His gracious promises stand fast. He will continue to bless and keep us at all times. This should serve to strengthen our faith in Him and His Word so that we continue, year after year, to place all of our confidence and trust in the unchangeable God and in His unchangeable Word of Truth.

O Thou, who changest not, abide with me!

Super Simple Sunday

There is nothing like praise and thanksgiving to God to drive away the shadows of discouragement and confusion. When worries overwhelm us, we can literally become bogged down to the point of not knowing which way to turn. When all else fails, go to the Lord in thanksgiving and prayer.
Remember all the prayers that God has answered for you in the past. Remember the great things He has done. David wrote this in a psalm:
"O give thanks unto the Lord;
call upon His name:
make known His deeds among the people.
Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him:
talk ye of all His wondrous works.
Glory ye in His holy name:
let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.
Seek the Lord, and His strength:
seek His face evermore.
Remember His marvelous works that He hath done;
His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth..."
(Psalm 105:1-5, KJV)

Faith, Hope, And Love

Faith, hope and love: these three remain; and the greatest of them is love (God's agape, unconditional and unselfish love). The Christian is not unique in the need for love, for faith, or for a living hope. All people need these things to be active in their lives. The Christian is only unique in that these things are promised us by God Himself.

We possess, in Christ Jesus, all the most wonderful things that the whole world longs for. We have God's own river of peace from which to drink. We have God's own love to keep us warmed in a cold and dark world. We own the hope of Christ which tells us that we will rise again to reign with Him. And we have a faith given to us by God that satan, the world, and all the imps of hell can never take away.

How remarkable, then, that we still complain and fret over daily events and circumstances, often as though we had no hope of faith at all. I guess we are just human, after all. Even though we have received glorious gifts from Almighty God, we are still jars of clay, as the Bible says. I am just thankful that I am not saved by my own goodness, but by the matchless grace of God, through faith in Jesus Christ.

Fearless Friday

I found this post over at a place called simplicity: Suppose you had 10 kids and you had terminal cancer? Suppose it appeared your time was limited? What would you want a group of people, who didn't even know you, to do for you?

If it was me, sweet friends, I would be secretly praying that God would move on your hearts to fast for me. I know you would pray. But I would want you to fast for my healing.

On that note: I am asking if you would join me in a blog fast for my sweet friend. That God would heal her of her cancer. That He would move mountains. That He would touch her body and every single cancer cell and remove them. We will also ask God to minister to her husband, Howard. Ask God to minister to her children. Ask God to do above all we could ask or think. And we will humbly ask Him to do it Now.

I refuse to sit idly by and not do anything. I refuse to stop knocking on heaven's door. I remind the Lord of Luke 18 and the persistent widow. She kept coming and coming and coming.....knowing that the unrighteous judge would eventually hear her. How much more the Heavenly Father loves us!!

Would you join me/us?

The Fast: Monday, July 27th

Fast: Breakfast or Lunch or Dinner or All Three

Please, please, please ask your blog friends to join together with us. Please ask your prayer chains, your Bible studies....your prayer groups....your family......all of them....and let's see what God will do!

And please meet my friend and your new friend, Cindy, at Faithful Promises.

She is a treasure and you will just love her - Promise!! xo

Thankful Thursday- Victory

Lynn chose victory as the theme this week, thanks for hosting this month sweetie. I love, and appreciate you my friend. Victory in Jesus, how sweet those words to my ears, and my heart. I have always loved the song victory in Jesus. My friends, there is victory in Jesus, never doubt that for one minute. I am living proof of His victory. More than once, He has sought me, and He always found me. Various times in my life, He has lifted me up from the very deep dark pit of depression, and sorrow, and heavy grief, that I thought was going to kill me. He set me back up on my feet, brushed me off, cleaned me up, and gave me the victory. His precious, redeeming blood has poured over me, and cleansed me, and made me whole. Praise God. I spent my entire life feeling like a loser, due to various circumstances in my life. But, I am not a loser, I am a winner. I am on Jesus's team, and He never loses. Victory in Jesus, my Saviour forever. Jesus losses-0 satans losses- too many to count.

Word Filled Wednesday

All alone in the early hours of morning with a Bible, a cup of tea or coffee, and the Lord. There is no better way to begin a day. Before the cares and crushing stress of a busy day, we need to draw strength from our quiet time with the Lord Jesus. We can pray, and think about the promises He has made to us. We can read, and find His will for the day. We can sit quietly, and listen to the Spirit of God, drawing our own strength from His Mighty Presence. He is our God. Let us listen to Him, and learn.

A Call For Help

Can you imagine what it is like to be unable to work, for both you and your hubby to be disabled? The fear of homelessness and hunger? I know there are so many now losing their homes and going hungry. But this is a chance to help one. Even a dollar will add up to many, if we were all to spare one. Please help Vixen. Please visit Vixen's blog (where the donation button is set up)If you can not donate.Consider doing a post for her. Maybe some of your readers can help. Praying does not cost a single penny, but is worth so much my friends, so please pray for this dear one, and so many others that are hurting right now. Thank you all.

God Is Unchangeable

Can you imagine what the world would be like if God was fickle and erratic?

The natural laws would then be variable, and unstable, depending upon God's mood!

The force of gravity could be extreme one day, making it difficult to move about, then insignificant on another day, making it impossible to keep things down in the same position.

Our coffee could float out of it's mug. It would be chaotic.

Paul tells us that: "..in Christ all things hold together."

(Colossians 1:17)

I believe that all the molecular structures are held together by Christ's unchangeable power.

It is He who gives this creation it's stability.

In Other Words Tuesday

But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.”Jonah 1:3: Have you ever found yourself running away from the Lord? We cannot run from the presence of God.
Ps 139: 7 “Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,”
Even the night shall be light about me;
12 Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You,
But the night shines as the day;
The darkness and the light are both alike to You.” Instead of running from God, run to Him. If He calls you to do something, He will equip you to do it. He never wants you to fail, He loves you my friend, and only wants the best for you. So, where He leads you, follow.

Mission 4 Monday

My Stuff Bags Foundation

Over 300,000 abused, abandoned, and neglected children across America are removed from dangerous home environments each year. They often arrive at crisis centers and foster homes with few, if any, personal belongings. The My Stuff Bags Foundation seeks to give these children comfort and hope by providing them with a My Stuff Bag full of things they need to help them settle in their new environments, such as clothes, toys, toiletries, stuffed animals, and a security blanket.

My Stuff Bags has provided bags to more than 320,000 children in 49 states since it began in 1998. There goal is to have a bag for every child removed from his or her home. For more information, go to www.mystuffbags.org.

Handwriting on The Wall

By Author Unknown

A weary mother returned from the store,
Lugging groceries through the kitchen door.
Awaiting her arrival was her 8 year old son,
Anxious to relate what his younger brother had done.

While I was out playing and Dad was on a call,
T.J. took his crayons and wrote on the wall
It's on the new paper you just hung in the den.
I told him you'd be mad at having to do it again.

She let out a moan and furrowed her brow,
Where is your little brother right now?
She emptied her arms and with a purposeful stride,
She marched to his closet where he had gone to hide.

She called his full name as she entered his room.
He trembled with fear--he knew that meant doom
For the next ten minutes, she ranted and raved
About the expensive wallpaper and how she had saved.

Lamenting all the work it would take to repair,
She condemned his actions and total lack of care.
The more she scolded, the madder she got,
Then stomped from his room, totally distraught

She headed for the den to confirm her fears.
When she saw the wall, her eyes flooded with tears.
The message she read pierced her soul with a dart.
It said, I love Mommy, surrounded by a heart.

Well, the wallpaper remained, just as she found it,
With an empty picture frame hung to surround it.
A reminder to her, and indeed to all,
Take time to read the handwriting on the wall.

Thankful Thursday

Hello everyone, time to share our thankful hearts once again. I pray you have much to be thankful for this week. Recently, there has been quite a bit of stress around the Oldham home. My health has taken a turn for the worse, I have been really sick. Of course, God is staying close by my side, keeping a watchful eye on me. I give Him much praise for that, He is such a wonderful comfort to me. I have no complaints, I always say when I am not feeling well, consider the alternative. But, actually, when I consider the alternative, woo hoo!! Heaven would be the alternative, to die is to gain for me, thank You Lord. Ok, moving along. One day last week, lovebug was at our apartment Laundromat washing his work clothes. I decided to walk up there to surprise him, he thought I was sleeping. I had been sick, so I had laid down for a little nap. Well, I was the one who was in for a big surprise. As I reached the Laundromat door, I could see there were three people in there, my lovebug, and two women. Both women were in their early 30's, very attractive, and flirting like crazy with my lovebug. Here was the conversation: You sure are cute for an older man, do you live here? Thanks for being so helpful with our laundry. I love your mustang, very cool car. Are you married? My lovebug quickly told them that yes, he was happily married, and he left. I went and sat by our apartment swimming pool, it had been a long, tiring day. I had gotten my lab results, and ultrasound results back, none of which had been any good news. Now, my lovebug is being cornered at the Laundromat by two prowling females!! My heart really began to sink, of course I began to have a talk with myself. I said things such as: Well, here I am, no hair, body that looks like an army tank, 45 years old, but look much older due to my health problems. Who would blame lovebug if he wanted to be with two younger, healthier, far more attractive women than me? He deserves better than me, I am nothing but a great big mess!! But, then a light bulb went off, and I said, YEA RIGHT!! I am his wife of almost 25 years, for better or for worse. I am who I am, by the grace of God. God created me, and that makes me valuable.I may not have the youth, hair, or looks that those two women have, but I have something of immeasurable worth that they will never have, and that is the precious gift of my lovebugs heart. Thank You Lord for my lovebug, I treasure him.

In Other Words Tuesday

If all you ever attempt is that which you know you can do or have the resources for, how will you ever discover what He can do"
My Jesus is . . . . Everything!
by Anne Graham Lotz : Amen, my Jesus is everything. Jesus has taught me so much about patience, and courage. I love waiting upon Jesus, it is amazing to see what He can, and will do in my life. If Jesus brings you to it, He will also bring you through it my friend. I can do all things through Him, there is nothing to great for my Jesus. Let go, and let Jesus take you on a new path of discovery.

A pastor's family stands in front of their burnt out home
Food and washbasins that were distributed to IDPs

Bruce and Anita Paden, WorldVenture missionaries in DR Congo

Since April 23 of this year, these funds have helped in the following way:

  1. Food and household items to help 400 families from our churches who fled fighting in their areas.
  2. Help to churches recovering from conflict, (rebuilding, repairing).
  3. Medical help to individuals, (IDPs), and to church medical center in areas that serve IDPs.
  4. Help to a pastor and his family whose home was burned down.

"[N]eeds vary from place to place and from time to time. At Rubaya, the place where we helped IDPs from our church association the last time that I sent a report to you, we helped the people there with blankets and food items. This time, however, there was some NGO that had already distributed blankets to the people there, so that wasn't a need. Instead of blankets, we gave them washbasins which they did need."

Kinshasa/Geneva (ICRC) - Fresh outbreaks of armed hostilities in many areas of North and South Kivu are putting additional pressure on entire communities already living in an alarming state of vulnerability.

Many have been forced to flee the all-pervasive violence and people in affected regions are unable to lead anything remotely resembling a normal life. Though due to harvest their crops any time now, they are often unable to get to their land because of armed groups in the vicinity.

Book Review

Rick&Bubba's guide to the almost nearly perfect marriage is so funny, it will keep you laughing from the beginning until the end. I read this book aloud to my husband, I do not know who laughed more, I think we both did. As you are reading each chapter, you find yourself shaking your head in agreement. It reminds you of the funny things in your own marriage, and also reminds you not to take things so seriously, laugh, laugh alot. With chapter titles such as: To love, honor, and duck. Showers of popcorn, and Three sides to every story, you cannot help but smile. I highly recommend this book, read it together as a couple, it will make you both laugh aloud.

Thank You Father

Thank You Father for staying so close to me this week. It has been a long, emotional, very tiring week. The test results were not good, but that is ok. You are so good, and that makes up for everything. It may feel as if I am on a crash course right now, but You are still in the drivers seat, so I know I am not going to crash and burn. Instead, I will rise on eagles wings, better than ever. I love You Father.

Fearless Friday

Please continue to pray for:1) The restoration of Pia's marriage. 2) Angela's family to be financially blessed, Randy to find a job. 3) The health of Allelulabell's husband Ron. 4)The continued well being of Beth's parents. 5) The continued well being of Debra. 6) The healing of Lisa's parents. 7) The continued well being of Cheryl's sister Jan. Thank you for praying for me, I love you all.

Decision Already Made

My Doctor told me yesterday that I needed to make a decision regarding my thyroid. Some of the nodules on my thyroid are probably cancer, so I can choose to have surgery and have my thyroid taken out, or wait six more months, and have more tests done. I choose to wait, God is my healer, and He is still very much in the healing business. I will wait upon my Deliverer. Blessings to you all.

Update On Wednesdays Doctor Appointment

Hello my friends, praying everyone is doing well. Sorry I have been absent from blog world, but I will get caught up. I want to thank everyone for your love, friendship, and precious prayers. I love you all very much. Thanks dear Donetta and Marsha for the phone calls, you are both beautiful heart treasures. My lab results were all bad, my thyroid has everything messed up. Normal thyroid level is suppose to be 6, mine is 86. Total cholesterol is suppose to be less than 200, mine is 389. Triglycerides are suppose to be less than 150, mine are 489. My blood sugars are running too high. I have a bad sinus infection, and fluid in my ears. So, right now, I am not feeling very well. My thyroid ultrasound came back showing there are more nodules, and there is also now a goiter. There are suspicious cells in some of the nodules. It may seem like my body is a train wreck right now, but that is ok. God is my conductor, what else do I need??

Thankful Thursday

Another Thankful Thursday has arrived my friends, I pray you are all filled with a thankful heart. If your not, you should be. I am very thankful for this new day that I am blessed with. I am breathing it in deeply, and exhaling slowly. God is so good, and smells so sweet. He is all around me, I feel His presence, and I am so grateful for that. I love Him from the top of my head, to the bottom of my feet, I am His, and I love Him. I love Him.

Update

Hello my sweet friends, praying you are all doing well. As you all know, yesterday I went to my doctor for lab work, and then for my second thyroid ultrasound. I received a phone call this afternoon at 5:00 from my doctors office, the doctor has the results from all of my lab work, and the ultrasound. The nurse said the doctor wanted to see me, I asked her if the doctor could just talk to me on the phone. She said the doctor said she needs to see me tomorrow, she needs to talk to me, and examine me. She said it was not just one thing, several things came back bad. So, Eddie has to work tomorrow, but my dad is off on Wednesdays. I called and asked him if he could take me, he said he would. I will be going to see my doctor in the morning, I would very much appreciate your prayers. I love you all.

In Other Words Tuesday

Thanks Debbie for sharing such a great quote this week. My answer to this is a great big no. Doing these things are important, and we should all be doing them. But, doing these things is not showing passionate whole hearted love for God. In order to do that, we must be willing to be Jesus in action. We must show love to others, reaching out to those in need. Sharing what we have with those who do not have. Not just talking the talk, but walking the walk. Take up your cross daily, unburden yourself of this world, and be determined to make this world better, until we reach our true home. That my friend, is passionate whole hearted love.

Busy Day

Hello my friends, praying that you all enjoyed your holiday weekend. Asking God to bless you all with a beautiful week. Lovebug is off today, and we have a busy day ahead of us. I have to be at my Doctor's office at 8:30 this morning for blood work, then Lovebug goes for his allergy shot. Lovebug has an appointment with his Doctor at 1:45 for a routine physical. I go at 3:30 for my second thyroid ultrasound, the first one six months ago was inconclusive. I have five thyroid nodules, they are doing the ultrasound to check for cancer in any of the nodules. I would appreciate your prayers. Take care, God loves you.

Charity Shopping Portals

Via Charity Shopping Portals, many of the internet's best known stores are willing to donate a portion of their sales to charity.

This is a win-win-win situation:

  • You win, because a portion of your internet purchases can be donated to the charity of your choice, at no extra cost to you.

  • Your charity wins, because they get a great new source of donations.

  • Participating internet stores win, because they use the charity donation feature as a way to attract new customers, and to encourage greater loyalty from existing customers.

Generally, lesser known internet stores are willing to donate a higher portion of their sales (up to 15%) than the portion of sales (up to 5%) donated by better known internet stores. However, there are exceptions. For instance, Amazon.com is willing to donate up to 30% of its sales revenues for higher margin or promotional items.

Here's the small catch: In order for a portion of your purchases to be donated to charity, you cannot surf directly to the internet store. Instead, you must click through a charity shopping portal. Fortunately, this takes only a few seconds, once an account is set-up.

Invest a few minutes to set-up an account at a charity shopping portal and to choose the charity that will receive a portion of each purchase you make when clicking through that shopping portal. Leading Charity portals include GreaterGood.com and iGive.com.
