Marriage Monday-Commitment

Exactly 28 years ago on April 6th 1985, Eddie and I became one. We said vows, and made a true commitment to each other. Through the years, has that commitment been tested? You better believe it has!! Examples: infertility, my mom living with us, and being her caregiver until her death, my battle with being a cutter after my mom's death, Eddie's battle with Gillian Barri syndrome, financial hardships, and of course, all of my health problems. Are we a happily ever after, perfect couple? No, we are a very real couple, that has struggles, just like everyone else. Do we agree about everything? Of course not, we are two different people. But, I am totally committed to Eddie. I would never even consider divorce. Things have been very strained in our marriage since my stroke, Eddie has changed so much. He treats me so differently, he has distanced his self from me. I feel so alone, but, I will never give up on my marriage. No matter how many walls he tries to put up between us, with God's help, I will scale those walls. I will forever be committed to the two men in my marriage, that I took vows with, God, and Eddie.

Aw, Denise, this is a beautiful post. I had no idea you had struggled with as much as you have. I pray that God richly and deeply blesses you with His love and compassion, that He restores the tender relationship between you and your husband, and that He brings you physical healing. I'm so glad we are back in touch again after all this time. xoxo

You've pointed out the crucial point all of our marriage need--commitments are only strong when founded in Christ, Denise. I'm so glad you have that certainty in your God--as do I. He's done some amazing things in my marriage as well. Great post!

Anniversary blessings.....there are times in our marriage one or both of you will get snowed under with the heavy things of the world. You both have been through so much....but here you still are. :)

You're a committed and faithful wife, sweet one. And congratulations on nearly 28 years of marriage!

I'm so sorry Eddie has distanced himself since your stroke. That's really lonely for both of you.

Perhaps he has felt a sense of helplessness--ie. his inability to "fix" you medically. I'm sure you can think of other ways to put him to work so he can feel successful in caring for you--and that will draw him closer.

Thanks for linking up with Marriage Monday today, Denise.

Hugs, e-Mom ღ

I'm so sorry for all your struggles, Denise, but I am so encouraged by your great strength to hold on no matter what because you have so much faith in God. That's how I also found victory in all my struggles in marriage. God is really great!

You can do this; you are very strong and have great faith. He might actually be going through grieving due to all of the struggles. When there is any kind of changes like you have had this is a grieving process for you both. It is not always just grieving at a death. I know that things will get better.
Blessings and prayers for you!
