Day 3-Praying For My Husband

“The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit.” - James 5:16-18 (NASB)

Everything in our walk with God centers on prayer. The problem is, very few Christians have a rich prayer life. Research tells us that the average Christian spends 3-7 minutes a day in prayer (including meals).

This verse gives us great hope. We often think that the characters of the Bible were special people, with special gifting, for a special time. Yet this verse says that Elijah, one of the greatest characters of the Old Testament was a man just like us.

What might happen if we really believed in the power of prayer? If we truly believed that our prayers would make a difference, we would pray more. However, our weak faith has resulted in weak prayers. We pray small prayers to a little God, because we have such weak faith.

As you pray for your husband, pray that God births in him a deeper passion for prayer. Let him see that God answers the prayers of regular people. Pray that he will take the time to pour out his heart to God, look to Him for guidance, and stand in faith for what he has asked.

Father, thank you for eddie. I pray that you will develop in him a greater passion and hunger for prayer. I pray that he will see that you are the God who hears and answers our prayers. I pray You will help him set aside time for prayer, and then give him the faith to look to You for the answers.
In Jesus Name,
Amen.

eddie, I am praying God takes your prayer life to an entirely new level. I am praying that you become a man of prayer. I was reminded today that the great men of the Bible were regular men who prayed, and God did powerful things through them. I am praying that God gives you a new passion and hunger for prayer. Love, denise

I like this idea of spending a month of prayer for our husbands. :)
My husband became a Christian 18 years ago, after I had been praying for it to happen for 15 years! I praise God for saving him everyday! Hallelujah!

After he got saved, we started having devotion times together each day...and we pray for others. We consider it a ministry. It has been the greatest thing in the world! We love those times of study and prayer together. And we have seen so many answers to those prayers!!!

We are retired...and so we have the time to do this..but I do think everyone could do it in the evening before bed, even if they have a hectic schedule.

Or after dinner with the kids would be a good time too. I promise that God will truly bless all who take the time to read and study the Bible together...and those who pray for the needs of others!

Love, Linda

Yes, Denise, keep praying. My husband was not a Christian when we got married 50 years ago in September. He was raised in a Christian home. His dad was an old time Holy Ghost filled kind of preacher. He never pastored a church as far as I know, but he and his wife prayed everynight before going to bed.

I prayed for my dh for 2 years before he got saved. But God answered my prayers and God did a great work in his life. His left eye has macular degeneration and he has problems seeing sometimes.
Our OD gave him a Bible on CD's.
He is on his 2nd or 3rd time listening to them. He also sang
with a gospel quartet for 4 years.

Keep praying, God will answer your prayers. With all of us bloggers praying with you, he doesn't have a chance. God will get a hold
of him. I firmly believe that.
Love you my friend, AE

Thank you, Linda.

I want to do the same for my husband. I also like to see him be a strong person in God, a man of faith.

Amen to this wonderful post.
