Question

My dear friends, I have a question that I am hoping one of you can answer for me. If someone is coming to your blog, and leaving hurtful comments as anonymous, but you know who it is, can you do anything to stop them? Or if they send you unwanted emails, how can you stop them? I have asked them more than once to stop, and leave me alone. But, they refuse to listen. Any help would be very much appreciated.

First of all, let me say that I am so sorry you are experiencing this problem. The only answer I know of is to stop allowing anonymous comments, but this prevents anyone from leaving a comment that doesn't have a blogger or open ID account. You already have comment moderation which prevents comments from being posted without your approval. However, you still have to see them. As far as email, some email services have a blocked sender feature, but people can circumvent that by getting other email accounts. Sorry I can't be of more help - perhaps someone who is more technically savvy can offer assistance.

Of course, let us join in prayer for this person. What can they hope to gain by doing this to you?

Blessings,
Joan

Sorry you are going through this, I have been there before, and it is sad that some have nothing better to do but make someone else as misserable as they are.
The only thing I know to do is make it where you have to approve the messages before they get posted, and if you know it is that person you can block there id.

So sorry Denise that someone would do such a thing to you...

I know there is an option in blogger to block anonymous comments...but I think it blocks all of them...not just one3 particular IP address...

Most email clients let you block certain senders...it should be under receive mail options...

I'm sorry that you are having to deal with this. I can't imagine why anyone would go through the trouble of sending mean and hurtful comments to you. What are they saying? You don't seem to have a mean bone in your body nor can I imagine you having any enemies. The best advice I can give is to ignore them. I've learned that most mean people slack off on their behavior once they realize they are not getting a rise out of you.

OH Denise! I am sooo sorry you are experiencing this...you of all people !! The most encouraging person I have ever known! I would do as everyone has suggested....make it to where you cannot have anonymous comments....it is not worth the strife to leave it open to anonymous if this is what is going to happen! I don't know how to block them in email situations but will ask my DH and let you know ok!

I pray this person is convicted and the Lord will help this situation be stopped!!

I love you Denise and pray this situation will be taken care of quickly!

So sorry this is happening. Just delete their comment before reading it since you know who it is and are screening your comments.
I had a few random comments from rude people. I quit labeling my posts so that those words don't come up when someone is doing a search. That has helped.
I know how this must hurt. I had an encounter with a rude person at Dollar General last week. It bothered me the rest of the day until I prayed about it. I know that there are bad people in the world but sometimes I forget.
Love you, girl

Lifting you up in prayers sister. May He protect you at all times. That is sad that some people are that way. I am aware of spiritual battle but sometimes, some of them just choose to be bad too. Take care.

I am so sorry to read that you are having issues like this. I am not sure about blogger, but with WP you can block IP addresses. I believe that you can block people getting to email by blocking their email address.

I hope you can get this resolved, because it is hurtful and painful. I just don't understand some people why they like to hurt others.

Love & peace,
Iris

So sorry you're going through this, hunny.

You can choose to not accept anonymous comments... but that's all anonymous comments even the ones that are nice and you can remove your email address but then the nice people can't reach you either...
This is why I approve my messages before published too, although, I still see them all, you don't have to ;D

That stinks!

You, of all people?! Perhaps it is a temptation. Someone who is put there to flex your passience and prayer muscle (further). May Jesus Christ bring you peace.

HI Denise! Oh, this is not fun to deal with but there is a reason that God is allowing it. Maybe this person needs to know unconditional love? Doesn't mean we have to be a doormat though. Hmmm.

I don't have any advice but am so glad to read in your other posts about requesting prayer for this person. That's going to be convicting for them for a while and probably make them more mad but guess what? Our God is bigger than the pain and hurt and anger and bitterness they are trying to hold on so tight to and pass along to anyone they can target(guess you for now). My Lord made me give up the death grip I had on my brokenness a couple years ago and now I am so glad. This person harrassing you will someday be glad too.
