“Is it possible we could experience the joy of our salvation, if we mourned [over our sin] as if someone had died? We cannot experience joy without mourning.”
~Pastor Robert Morris, Gateway Church. From the Sermon: “Those who mourn are happy”~: Guess what? Someone did die, Jesus. He was nailed to that cross for our sins. How does that make you feel? It makes me grief deeply, Jesus was innocent, I was guilty. He took my sins upon Himself, so that I could be free. We need never to forget the ultimate sacrifice that was given for our sins. But, do not forget the joy that brings either. Jesus loved me so much, and cared so much, that He willingly went to that cross. What a beautiful, precious love, none other comes close in comparison. Knowing I am His, puts a big smile upon my face, and unspeakable joy in my heart. My salvation is the greatest gift I have ever been given, and I treasure it.

Amen, Denise! Well said.
Wonderful words!
...makes me think about some of the different widows in our church who are still mourning years after the death of their spouse. There are some widows that refuse to live in the 'here and now.' But others who do grieve deeply are - at the same time - so full of joy The younger folks could learn great lessons from them. Makes me wonder: How am I mourning Christ's death?
Am I stuck in the mourning or do I use the mourning to reach out to others with JOY!
It's a fine line, isn't it?
Denise, What I love about your posts is that what I take several miles of words and phrases to say around the Mountain, you just blow a hole write through it and say it straight out, short, sweet and to the point. (Not comparing... Really true.)
I often feel like my Word Diva status makes me a bit unbearable, but we all have different gifts now don't way. Many Words or Few this is a great message, and I so love the things you said after the quote:
"Guess What? Someone did die..."
Loved that.
Blessings.
