Cafe Chat-Gossip

Without sharing names and using specific details, please share a time when gossip reared its ugly head in your life, and what was the outcome (whether you were the one who gossiped, or the gossip was about you). When I was in elementary school, some girls started gossip about my family. It really hurt me, I cried every morning when I had to go to school. At recess, I would stay in class and help my teacher clean the erasers, the chalk boards, anything not to have to go outside on the playground. I would cry myself to sleep at night. For a girl with no self confidence, this destroyed me even more. I have never forgotten the intense pain I felt daily. Gossip is wrong, it hurts. It is a fiery arrow straight to the heart. Sweet sisters, we are to build one another up, not tear each other down. If you cannot say something nice about someone, then please do not say anything. If you are with some friends, and they start talking against another friend, please do not join in. Instead, bow your head, and say a prayer for the one they are tearing down. Bless you all.

You know right at this moment I can't think of anything specific. But I can recall being hurt many many times by "talk" in high school. Oh...I do recall one story that went around about me and a boy I went out with and it was just SO NOT true. Highschool...wouldn't want to go back. God bless you sweet sister.

I am sorry to hear that.

I know how it feel too when others talk behind you. It was hurt. I really agree that we have to avoid that kind of conversation and keep praying to God to help us stay away from that things and bring us over it.

Gossip is serious, and your story shows the pain of that sin. Thank you for sharing today, and your encouragement to ladies to pray when they want to gossip or hear gossip.

Blessings Denise :)

Denise,

How mighty is the tongue and how it can hurt. We have to be good stewards of that too! The biggest ship is steered by the tiniest little rudder!

I have been extremely hurt by gossip and untruths but mainly inside of the Christian sector. I can't recall it outside of it. I have matured so through the process of understanding at what is at the root of it and learning to pray it through, just like you said.

((hugs)) to you, sweet sister. Wise advice!

I love the idea to pray if others around you are gossiping. It is so easy to get caught up in the gossip.

Thanks for the advice!

It is so sad that children can be so cruel! I talk to my kids all the time about how we are to treat others! Even using some of my own experiences to help them understand! So sorry for how they treated you!

Gossip--so much gossip at my work that sometimes I just walk away. You are so right--we need to bring the person that is being hurt into our prayers as well as those that are doing the gossiping.

Thanks for you kind comments on firefly's post. Glad to see you stop by for a visit!!
