Psalm Friday-Psalm 3

Psa 3:1
A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.
O Lord, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
Psa 3:2
Many are saying of me,
“God will not deliver him.”
Selah

Psa 3:3
But you are a shield around me, O Lord;
you bestow glory on me and lift
up my head.
Psa 3:4
To the Lord I cry aloud,
and he answers me from his holy hill.
Selah

Psa 3:5
I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.
Psa 3:6
I will not fear the tens of thousands
drawn up against me on every side.

Psa 3:7
Arise, O Lord!
Deliver me, O my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
break the teeth of the wicked.

Psa 3:8
From the Lord comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.
Selah
How do you choose to deal with your enemies? Do you vow vengeance upon them? Do you treat them as unkindly as they treat you? Do you ignore them, secretly wishing bad things happen to them? All very bad choices. My advice to you my friends, give them over to the powerful hands of true justice, God. Let the ultimate judge, judge them. It is not your job to judge, or seek vengeance. Pray for them, that is what they really need. Try showing them, the opposite of what they show you. Love, and kindness. Remember, we are to love our enemies. God says so, so do it my friends.

Oh, how I love the Psalms! How wonderful to know that we can go to God in trying times as well as the good.
