Lies Women Believe-Assignment 5

Assignment 5
Reading: Read the remainder of Chapter Three. Read pages 73-89.
Questions: This week's questions are taken from The Companion Guide for Lies Women Believe. I am only choosing a few questions. I encourage you to purchase this companion guide if you'd like more questions to help you in your study of this book.
1. "Read Psalm 37:1-11. What are the attitudes and behaviors of a person who is claiming her rights? What are the attitudes and responses of the person who has yielded her rights and expectations to God?" : A woman who is claiming her rights, will constantly be angry when things do not go her way. Her life will be filled with anxiety, and depression. A woman who yields her rights and expectations to God, will patiently wait upon God. She will totally trust God in all areas of her life.
2. "In what area(s) of your life have you tended to think that something is your 'right' when it may not truly be a 'right' at all...?" I sometimes feel that I have a right to be loved by my brothers, and my dad. But, I need to yield all my rights to God, only He has the right to anything.
3. "What are some of your heart's desires that have not yet been fulfilled...?" To be loved by my two brothers, and my dad. But, I now realize, that I cannot look to people to satisfy the longings of my heart, people are only human, they will fail you, hurt you, let you down. Only God can truly satisfy the longings of my heart.
4. "According to Psalm 16:11, where is the only place that all our longings can be completely met?" In God.
All the above questions have been taken from The Companion Guide for Lies Women Believe by Nancy Leigh DeMoss published by Moody Publishers, Chicago, IL ©2002.
The following questions are from me:
5. What does Scripture have to say about a woman's beauty? Give Scripture references. Proverbs 31:30-Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. 1 Peter 3:3-5-Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair, and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. Which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful.
6. How do we, as women, find balance between taking care of ourselves physically, as well as displaying ourselves as the royalty we are, and not falling into the trap of focusing too much on physical beauty? We need to do all we can to be physically fit, and stay healthy. But, we should not strive to be perfect. We will never achieve that goal. We always need to remember that we were created in Gods image, that makes us all beautiful. We are daughters of the King, that makes us princesses. Wear your crown with honor lovely one. Our Memory Work
"'Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'" - John 8:32 (NIV)
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free..." - Galatians 5:1 (NIV)

Denise,
I thought I had commented on your post. Then tonight, I stopped by to read the other comments and saw that I didn't comment. So sorry!

I noticed a common thread in the answers for the question about how a woman who demands her rights acts.

I am reminded of the fact that it's not about us. When we are demanding our own rights, we are making it about us.

Thanks for sharing!
Take care,
Karen
