31 Day Writing Challenge

This post is #15 in my series, 31 Days of Life Stories. Hundreds of writers are linking up at the 31 Day Writing Challenge hosted by Crystal Stine. There is a wealth of information on many topics. Go visit and see! I'll be posting under the category "Inspiration and Faith." I had an appointment this morning with my heart doctor, to go over some recent test results. As I stood outside my apartment, waiting on my dad to pick me up, I felt so tired. When we got to the doctor's office, I was feeling more, and more tired. My feet, and legs, are getting worse daily. I cannot feel my feet at all any more. When I walk, I cannot tell I am walking. They are totally numb. As I sat in the office, waiting on my doctor to come in the room, I was thinking about my upcoming heart anniversary. November 2014, I was fighting for my life. Heart attack, triple bypass, intensive care, and rehab for physical therapy, to learn to walk again. I started feeling very sad, and discouraged. Here I am again, my walking is terrible. Slow, off balance, total numbness. I felt like screaming!! But, then the door opened, and there stood one of my angels in disguise. My heart doctor, Dr. Hood. He shook my hand, and gave me a hug. Then, he told me that all of my tests came out good. No blood clots in my legs, and no new blocked arteries in my heart. I have to wear a heart monitor for 24 hours, because I have atrial fibrillation. After that, he will decide if I need to have some type of procedure. He also ordered some blood work, and increased two of my blood pressure medications. I told him about walking two miles at the park, and that I was going to walk in the heart walk in November. He walked up to me, and hugged me again. He said, he was very proud of me. He said, do you realize how far you have come ,since last year? He said, last November, you were in intensive care, fighting for your life, and now this November, you are getting ready to walk in the heart walk. Remember going to rehab, to learn to walk after your surgery, you were in a wheelchair. When you went home after rehab, you had to use a walker for months. Look at you now, walking miles on your own two feet. Needless to say, I had a much improved attitude when I walked out of the doctor's office, than when I walked in!! Thank You Jesus for my precious feet, numbness and all.

Love you, Denise. I can relate to numbness as I sometimes get numbness in my smaller toes on my feet.

He is right! We often don't see our accomplishments because we live in them each day. You should be very proud of yourself. I know you want more and it will come in time.....

You are such an inspiration! I am so happy you received such good news from the doctor.
I pray that your feet will improve. I am assuming that it is Neuropathy. My husband is being tested for that now. I can't imagine have numb feet. Just the fact that you are doing the Heart Walk is amazing. You just keep going girl; love you much! Blessing~
