Tuesday Journal Prompt-What Scares You ?

Anyone remember that song called, I don't like spiders and snakes, and that ain't what it takes to love me?? Well, believe me, I hate spiders and snakes. You sure can't make me love you, if you bring them around me, but, you sure will make me scream!! Did anyone see the movie Ben, about the young boy who had a rat as his pet, and best friend? Michael Jackson sang the theme song. My dad took me to see that movie, I had nightmares that night, and many nights after. I truly fear those dirty creatures. Yuck!!! Other fears???  Roaches, fire, and possums. I have a funny story I want to share with you about a possum. When I was ten years old, my mom and I lived alone for a short time. Late one night, I looked out the front door, at our porch. There was the ugliest, weirdest animal I had ever seen. It was staring at me!! I started screaming for my mom, she came running to the front door. I said, mom it is going to get us, it is trying to get in the house. Help me please. Mom did not know what it was either, and she got scared, thinking it might get in our house. So, what did she do?? She called 911, of course!! They sent the police to our house, quickly. When they got there, they asked what the problem was, mom explained our dilemma. After the two policemen quit laughing, they told my mom, it was just a large possum, probably looking for food. The next afternoon, when the school bus dropped me off in front of my house, there was the possum, dead on the road. Our dilemma solved, lol  But, I continue to be scared of those ugly monsters.

I remember the "Spiders & Snakes" song...and although I never saw the movie "Ben", the song was on my "playlist" back in the olden days of cassette tapes.

My sightings of possums were mainly as roadkill, but I remember my mom telling me they were mean creatures and to stay away from them...thankfully I never had a close encounter like you did!

I dislike very much the ugly creatures. This made me laugh. I guess because it was so close to home. I had the same thing happen one night. I opened the back door and there it sat. I almost fell down the steps. I screamed and when he saw what it was he laughed at me. He was born in the country. I wasn't! Horrible!

Gosh, I DO remember that song, Denise! It's amazing what stays lodged in our minds. And I'm so grateful that God stays lodged in our hearts, loving us so deeply and faithfully.

Thanks for connecting today!

I do remember that song, and I did see that movie Ben. I'm not a fan of rats, mice, spiders, or snakes. Roaches are both gross and scary. I also do not like frogs or toads. I'm OK with possums - though if I had had an *encounter* with one like you did, I just might feel differently!! When we were growing up, we used to get a lot of raccoons in our backyard. Seems they liked our pool for washing their food. They're cute, but can be so destructive. Up in our mountains, we get lots of squirrels and chipmunks. I love watching them scurry around. They have tails like rats and mice, but perhaps I can tolerate them because of the fur!! :-)

GOD BLESS!
