Weekend Update

Hello sweet friends, hope you all have enjoyed your weekend. Friday, we had to take Coco to the vet for her yearly check up. She passed with flying colors, she is in great health. Woo Hoo, praise God!! The only problem she has, is very high anxiety. She gets so nervous, if she hears fireworks, sirens, thunder or rain, weed eaters, lawnmowers, or if she has to ride in the car. She starts panting really bad, shaking, and hides. After telling her vet about all of this, and he saw how she was acting at the appointment, he wrote a prescription for her. Poor Coco, she is now on Xanax. I am praying that it will help her. It cost $212.00 at the vet!! But, she is worth it, and much more. Eddie has been off of work since Friday, he goes back Thursday. This week, is inventory at the plant. I have not felt very well this weekend. Sinus problems, breathing problems, and experiencing chest pains. Would appreciate your prayers, love you all so much. Bye for now.

Hi Denise! I hope the Xanax will help your little friend! It always amazes me how dogs have the same problems that we do. And the treatment is often the same too.
I'm so sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. I hope the weekend went well, and you were able to rest.
Blessings,
Ceil

Sounds ludicrous...but the best cure I've found for anxiety in dogs is another dog in the family with a calming spirit...somehow though, I ended up with four!

Denise, perhaps you can call your local animal shelter (SPCA). Sometimes they have recommendations for veterinary clinics that offer services at a less costly rate.

I know how you feel about Coco, and I'm so happy you were able to get her anxiety treated! Buddy has the same exact problem and we've been working with him as far as the car rides go...It is getting a bit better slowly but surely.
I don't live in the city like you do, so we don't get as much traffic and people sounds...but we do get quite a bit of the firecrackers this time of year, and gunshots all year long (from poachers.)It drives Bud crazy...which drives me crazy, and gets my own anxiety going!
I am praying for you to feel better today, sweet friend! In Jesus, I pray! ~Amen~

Poor Coco! Dogs can be so different. I grew up with a dachshund. He hated the car (threw up going around the block), and hated the vet. Marty, my son's beagle, is completely different. He loves driving in the car, and still loves the vet's office despite all the stuff he's gone through. But, like Coco, he is not a fan of fireworks or thunder! Glad to hear that she's in good health!

Glad to hear that Eddie is doing well. Not so glad to hear that you've been feeling unwell. May the Lord bring relief to your physical symptoms, while always bringing you His comfort and peace.

GOD BLESS!

Have you heard of Thundershirt? It's something for dogs to help them during thunderstorms and the like. It's supposed to really work. You might want to look it up and check into it. I've never used one, but I've heard about them from other bloggers, etc.

Hope you feel better soon.

Oh that is quite a bit of money. We once had a dog that was afraid of fireworks but since they really only happened once a year we just had someone stay home with her on the 4th of July.
