God-Who He is-Yahweh Yireh

It can be difficult to believe that God is a personal God. He is so great, and has so much to do- it hardly seems possible. We think that we bother Him with our problems. People who lived in Genesis days, had the same doubts. But, God showed them, that each individual was known, and important to Him. God tested Abraham's faith, by asking him to sacrifice his son Isaac as a burnt offering. Incredibly, Abraham set out to do so. Abraham said to the young men traveling with them, "Stay here, the boy and I will travel a little farther. We will worship there, and then we will come right back." Notice that he said, we will come back. Abraham had faith to believe that even if he did kill his son, God would raise him from the dead. As Abraham raised his knife to kill Isaac, the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven, and stopped him. Abraham saw a ram caught in a thicket, and sacrificed the animal instead of Isaac. Abraham called the name of that place, Yahweh Yireh, meaning "The Lord will provide" At that point, Abraham understood a little bit more about God's redemptive character. Whenever we begin to wonder if God loves us personally, we need to think about father Abraham, and his son Isaac, and Father God, and His Son Jesus.

If we have a problem believing that God is a personal God, all we have to do is read the Old Testament, right. :-)

Beautiful devotional, Denise. God is so intimately personal. And we are promised that we have a High Priest who understands every single weakness we have.

His love is unfailing, and a comfort to me, His daughter.

So blessed.

GOD BLESS!

God cares for each of us and knows us personally. He does wants to have a personal relationship with us.
