Prayer Request

Early this morning, about 3:30 a.m., I woke up to the sound of sirens. I quickly looked out my window, and watched as six fire engines, two fire&rescue cars, one ambulance, and two police cars went by. We live in an apartment complex, in building 15. There was a fire in building 5, they had to rescue several people from their balconies. They say the fire was mostly in the hallways, and stairwells. One person had to be treated for smoke inhalation. Praise God no one died, or was seriously injured. But, 18 families were displaced from their homes. My heart truly hurts for them, how scary. But, for the grace of God, it could have been my apartment building. Please join me in praying for these families. Thank you.

Firefighters Rescue Many Occupants From Burning Rustic Village Apartments

Monday, February 18, 2013

Around 20 occupants were rescued by Chattanooga firefighters at the Rustic Village apartments at 510 Central Drive early Monday morning.
The first calls came in at 3:32 a.m. and when Squad 13 arrived, smoke was showing in the area. Due to the large number of residents who had to be rescued, Lt. Jason Greer called for a second alarm and six additional companies were dispatched. A total of 12 companies were on the scene.
The main part of the fire involved the steps and it blocked the exit way for most of the second-floor residents. Ground ladders were quickly set up by firefighters to access the residents on the second-floor balconies where many of the residents were forced to retreat due to the smoke. Fire was contained to the hallways and stairwell area. American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist with relocating the residents. Many of them will be out of their apartments until repairs can be made to the structure. There was also smoke damage in the hallways.

So sad for the displaced families. May God look after them and give them all food and shelter and help them get on their feet again. Glad you are safe. xx

Sorry for the families but thankful of no injuries. I also live in an apartment and no matter how careful I may be you never know if someone in another apartment is. Thankful it was not closer to you.
