Day 15-Praying For My Husband

“Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.” - Matthew 5:37 (NIV)

The man of integrity stands by what he has said. He doesn’t need contracts or oaths because he does what he says he will do.

There was a time when deals were sealed with handshakes. When someone made a promise, you knew they would follow through. If they said they would do something, you knew they would do it. There wasn’t a need for a 30 page contract just to have a car fixed.

In the middle of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus deals with our personal integrity. The religious leaders of the day were very fond of oaths. Jesus says there shouldn’t be a need for an oath. When a man of integrity speaks, he does what he says he will do.

It is a shame that so many Christians have lost respect in the community because of their lack of integrity. The man of God keeps his work and his promise; anything less is a sin. It is that simple.

As you pray for your husband today, ask God to build in him a heart of integrity. Pray that his witness to the world is the integrity of his word. Ask the Lord to give him courage during those times when he is tempted to compromise his word.

Father, I pray that you will continue to develop a heart of integrity in eddie. Give him strength and courage to do the right thing when his integrity is challenged. I pray that as he walks in integrity, it will be a witness to the world around him of the wonderful work you have done in his life.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

eddie, today I am praying that God builds in your heart a new level of integrity. I am praying that God gives you strength to stand for what is right when everyone around you is pressuring you to compromise what you know is right. I am praying that your integrity will be a witness to the world around you. Love, denise

boy I can really relate to this one.
It is truly a shame when some Christians do not have integrity and their word means nothing. Many are the times I have heard one say they would give (and they had the means) but in the end I never heard from them again. It makes me wonder why they would give a promise to God so lightly given that their donations would have been for missions and furthering Kingdom principles. In the end, I had to learn to just leave them to God.
