On Your Heart Tuesday

Does he love me, does he not? He comes through the door, after a day at work, and is greeted by his faithful wife. She is a homemaker, so she stays alone at home all day. She is always so happy to see him when he comes home. As he walks in the door, she says hello honey, I am so glad you are home. He walks past her, and goes into the bathroom, where he washes off, and changes clothes. In the mean time, she is in the kitchen, getting him something to drink, and a snack. They both arrive back in the living room at the same time. He sits down on the couch, where she serves him his snack daily. She sits down in the recliner, and tries her best to get a conversation going with him, but she has to talk over the television, making good use of commercial time. But, the commercials are just not long enough. After he finishes his snack, more television watching for about thirty to forty-five minutes. Then, there it is. The loud sound of his snoring, he has fallen asleep, again. A daily occurrence around this place. He does not just take a hour, or even two hour power nap, he sleeps until it is pitch black outside. She finally convinces him to please wake up, and go take a shower. After his shower, he eats his supper, while watching more television. When his supper has time to digest, and he takes his nightly medications, he goes to bed. Once again, no time for her.  She is alone when he is at work, and when he is at home. But, he loves her, right?? Friends, marriage is so very important. A beautiful, precious bond between two individuals. It is like a garden, it needs to be tended to, in order to grow, and daily thrive. If left untended, it can begin to literally fade away, and ultimately die. I truly hope and pray with all of my heart, that you will daily water your marriage with much love, and tenderness. Then, watch it grow, and grow more beautiful. Care for those you love, and love those whom you care for. Amen.

Maybe your husband needs a good check up too. It is not normal to sleep so long after work.

Good advice, Denise. Sometimes we grow complacent in our relationships, taking them for granted rather than showing our love and appreciation. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Thank you for visiting my blog! This is so heartbreaking to read because I know how it feels to feel like you're living next to your husband instead of with him. It seems to happen gradually and then you find yourself just going through the motions. Marriage truly does require nourishment to thrive.

Never has marriage been under assault like it is today. To think 60% end in divorce just breaks my heart.

I hope this example is not your experience everyday. It is too sad. The husband sounds unhappy, as if he's checked out of life completely. Maybe he is not fulfilling the dreams that God has put in his heart and has let them die with the lie that a job is a job and that it provides security. This housewife also needs to get out of the house, make friends and discover her dreams. With prayer and inner growth, hopefully the love in the marriage can be rekindled.
