Thankful Thursday

27 years ago, on April 6th, 1985, lovebug and I said, "I do, and we still do".  It was a quick romance, we met in October of 1984, he asked me to marry him in November of 1984, and we got married on April 6th, 1985.  So many people, friends, and family, said, "we would never make it, that our marriage would not even last a year". Well, like this song says, just look at us now, we are still together, still going strong, 27 years later!! We have been through so many things that could have torn our marriage apart, but instead, it brought us even closer. Struggling with infertility for 16 years, and then having to finally give up the dream of becoming parents, dealing with caring for my dying mother, and her death. My becoming a cutter after losing my mother, the unexpected death of my big brother from diabetes, losing my hair, dealing with lovebugs Gillian Barri syndrome, dealing with my anorexia, diabetes, and my recent strokes. Woo Hoo, that is quite a list!! But, God brought us through, and tied our cord even tighter. I have come so close to death more than once, but, by the grace of God, I survived. Because of my brush with death, we have definitely realized how very precious life is, and how unpredictable. You can be here one minute, and gone the next. We have learned to never take life for granted, cherish each second. Spend time making sweet memories, live in the moment, because you are not promised tomorrow. I praise God for giving me the precious gift of my husband, Eddie. He laughs with me, and also cries with me. He prays with me, and for me. He loves me unconditionally, through the good, and bad times. He stands beside me, and helps hold me up.  He is still the one, now, and forever.Thank You for my marriage Father.

Wow! You have struggled with many things, any of which could have sent your marriage into a tailspin. Praise God for His faithful hold on your marriage.

By the way, I also deal with alopecia, and have for the past 32 years! God really blessed me with that one - it changed my life for the BETTER!!

The world would be a better place if everyone had long happy relationships like this. It's my hope someday that I find it too. Thanks for posting.

This song never fails to bring tears to my eyes. It was played at my daughter's wedding reception and it always reminds me of her. She and her husband have had some very rocky times but recently celebrated 12 years of marriage. I am so proud of them. You and your husband and my daughter and hers are perfect examples of overcomers. Congratulations, Denise!
