Thankful Thursday On Friday

This week, I am thankful for my husband's job. There are so many without a job, and my heart hurts for all of you. May God provide you with work, and financial blessings very soon. Last year, we went through some rough financial times, and once again, we are facing some tight crunch times financially. My lovebug will be out of work for a week during thanksgiving, and two weeks at Christmas, but the bills still keep rolling in as we all know. We are not going to get depressed, or stressed out, we are laying our needs at the precious feet of Jesus. We know that He will meet our needs, He is our provider. This year has been so hard economically on everyone, and now, the holidays are here. We are not going to be able to buy gifts for each other, or anyone else. But, that is ok. Jesus is the reason for the season. We are going to bake a birthday cake for Him, sing songs to Him, read the Christmas story aloud, and celebrate Him. There are so many things you can do for Christmas without spending money, money, and more money. Be creative, give gifts straight from your heart. Give people your time, make some gifts with your own hands. Write letters, or poems. Bake someone a cake, or cookies. Give your smiles, laughter, friendship, and love away. Come on everybody, let's get back to the basics of life this Christmas. Give Jesus away, He is the greatest gift ever.

I can certainly relate to having no $$$. My husband & I were both out of a job - he's working now in a commission only job and I'm not working, so this Christmas will be very tight. I've already told the kids that they shouldn't expect much. My husband and I haven't been able to buy gifts for each other in 11 years, but that's okay -it's like you said, we understand what Christmas is all about. I pray that you and your husband have the most blessed Christmas of all! And you're right to have a thankful heart for what you do have, instead of focussing on what you don't have. God bless

Thanks for sharing your thankfulness. It is so encouraging to read your love and faith in God. I was thinking about you on Thursday when I didn't see your post and hoping everything was okay.

I love your blog's new look--and also this post. And the 30 deays of Thanksgiving posts are a great idea. Wish I had thought of doing something like that.

You are SO right - about celebrating Jesus this season w/o the distraction of spending and spoiling ourselves instead of appreciating HIM. This just may be the BEST Christmas ever!
