Focus On Missions

Tennessee Sole Mates

"How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Romans 10:15b

What is Tennessee Sole Mates?
Tennessee Sole Mates, the newest ministry of Tennessee WMU, is Tennessee Baptists praying for Tennessee missionaries.

Who can participate?
Two or more Tennessee Baptist intercessors can volunteer and will be assigned a "Sole Mate". "Where two or more are gathered…"

What is a "Sole Mate"?
A "Sole Mate" is a missionary and/or missionary family with Tennessee ties who currently serves on the international mission field. The volunteer intercessors will be assigned a "Sole Mate" to support the missionary in prayer.

Why should I get involved?
Missionaries give testimony to the value of prayer support. They have said that prayer is a necessity for them to be effective on the field. By praying for them you can strengthen their ministry as they share the Gospel among their people group. By developing a relationship with a "Sole Mate", your eyes will be opened and your heart will be softened to the needs of people in the world.

How will I know how to pray for the missionary?

  1. Begin by praying for their needs:
    • Pray for them to adjust to their adopted culture for long term effectiveness.
    • Pray for their marriage if they are married; pray for close relationships if they are single.
    • Pray for their children (if they have children) and for children around them (nationals and other MKs).
    • Pray for their physical, spiritual and emotional health.
    • Pray that people will respond to the Gospel through their ministry.
  2. Then learn more about their specific needs by communicating with your "Sole Mate".

When can I volunteer to be a prayer partner for a "Sole Mate"?
by contacting Vickie Anderson, TN WMU ministry specialist, at 800-558-2090 extension 7918

Denise,
Thanks for the post. Since we haven't found a home church yet. I am not as aware of what is happening with WMU. Thanks again.

Oh what a great mission and ministry. I wish our state did something like this. And a great idea to write on your blog and share with others outside our denomination. Please encourage others because I know for sure how imporatant it is that we have others lift us up. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Love,
Sherry
