Cafe Chat

In the eyes of the world, it is not our relationship with Jesus Christ that counts; it is our resemblance to him!

When you read the quote above, especially the last part of the quote, do you agree with the author or disagree? Why did you answer the way you did?: When I read the above quote, especially the last part of the quote, I totally agreed with the author. Why did I agree? I agreed, because we can go around all day long, everyday, saying that we are a Christian, but until we show that we are a Christian, it does not make a bit of difference. Anyone can say they are a Christian, but do their actions back them up? What type of fruit are they producing? Fresh from the vine, delicious smelling fruit? Or, rotten, dying on the vine fruit? The world does not care how many ministries you participate in, or how many Jesus tshirts you wear, or how many wwjd bracelets you wear. They want to see some real evidence that Jesus is living in you, and how much you look like your Father. They want to know that you will listen to them with a non-judgemental heart, that you will pray for them, and encourage them. They do not want you to preach hell and brimstone to them, they want to hear, and especially see the love of God flowing from your heart into theirs.

In the eyes of the world...for me is the key to that statement. In the eyes of the world it matter most that we resemble Christ. But I think what matters most is our relationship with Him. For it is only in being connected to the vine that any branch can bear fruit. We can do nothing apart from our relationship with Him. The more we know Him the more we become like Him. The relationship always comes first. Without the relationship there would be no being like Christ! All the other would be just striving in the flesh and we would end up failing and being a poor witness for Christ. Relationship first...to me! Then the rest will follow!

I totally agree with this statement.
A true Christian is different & it shows;
Examples;
Do you jump the line at restaurants if given the chance? People will notice.
Do you go back to return change when the cashier gave you too much back.
The standard you live by tells what kind of person you are .
I notice when someone won't do "what is normal " in life but refrains from that which has any appearance of evil.
May I be a peculiar Person ,like my Lord was in my heart everydday Lord.

Now I just have to chime in and say that although I agree with everything Denise said, I don't agree with the quote (and I'm not trying to be ornery).

The only hope I have to resemble Jesus is BECAUSE I have a close relationship with Him. It comes first.

I love you Denise! You're a treasure.

I'm with luv4mysons; it's the first part of that statement that defines the other part. In GOD's eyes? In MY eyes? Things may look different. But the world is watching, and what do they see? Do they see love? Mercy? Justice for the poor and downtrodden? Or do they see judgment? Hate? Empty words? They are watching.. do they see Jesus?

hi..i agree with the author..claiming to be a Christian but his character stinks doesn't prove that he is...true Christians will shine and bless other people through their character..

Thanks for the visit always and you're my No.1 Commenter..For this, I'm grateful to you my dear sis...

Totally agree! "Actions speak louder than words!" Some of the people I work with would say they're Christians yet, minutes later, profanities come out of their mouths. And I'm the one sad about it because I know that kind of action doesn't represent the Lord. Thanks for making us think about what being a true Christian mean! God bless.

I agree with the author as well. I want to be producing fruit that is fresh from the vine and delicious smelling. Yes He is in me and will reside in me forever and ever more. May I be reflection of Him in me to everyone that I meet each and every day.

Amen, Denise! I wholeheartedly agree. I fail at it miserably but I do agree with it!

I agree with it, Denise, because it is not about us. It is about God that matters to Him. God wants us to be more like Jesus.
Have a blessed Sunday.
