Cafe Chat

Today, I ask you to share a time when a friend may have wounded you by speaking hard words to you, and even though you were hurt, you realized it was the best, and most loving thing he/she could have done. : After my momma passed away in April 0f 2006, a grief counselor named Carla from Hospice, started coming to see me once a week, and this continued for a year. We quickly became close friends, she was a sweet christian sister. She saw me through many ups, and downs. Sometimes, she would do all the talking, because all I could manage to do was cry through the entire visit. At other times, she sat and patiently listened, while I talked through the entire visit. She was so kind to me, which truly touched my heart. One day, when she came to visit, lovebug was here. She asked him to sit in on our conversation, and to add anything he might feel lead to share. Well, I had been cutting myself, and had not shared that with Carla. Lovebug was so worried about me, so he told her about my cutting. She got very upset with me, she began to really speak harshly to me, but it was all done with much love and great compassion. She cared about my entire well being, physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, everything mattered to her. She told lovebug to take anything that I could possibly use to hurt myself, and put out in the trunk of the car. She made him take those things to work with him, so they would be out of my reach. When she left, I was really upset. But, I knew she had only done those things out of love and concern for me. God bless her efforts toward me, and her friendship. During that time of deep heartache and darkness in my life, I would have died without my precious Father God, and His ministering angels, Lovebug, and Carla.

Wow Denise, that was so brave of you to share that, but I'm glad you did. I always remember how the Word says to bring things into the light, and that by confessing things in the open, we are freed from that bondage. That's awesome!
And by the way, happy anniversary!

First off, I hope you and "Lovebug" will have a super celebration this coming Monday!!! How awesome is that?!!!

Next, this sounds like a true friend you found in Carla. She used what we call tough love, and it worked! You, I'm sure, thank her each and every day.

Sometimes it takes those tough words to bring us to a place of repentance in our lives. We are called to admonish one another out of love and concern. Praise God for Carla and Lovebug and what He has done in your life through those words.

I love you, my dear friend.

What a great story of His love thru Carla and Lovebug.

I"m not sure where i heard the difference between hurting and harming, but it has stuck with me. If we're telling someone the truth in love--it might hurt their feelings. Yet, if discernment is used, it won't h.a.r.m. them. If we're just speaking harsh words, without compassion or discernment, harm ensues.

We all have our breaking point, but the good news is, God changed us daily... to be more like him.
I see a changed YOU, Denise. A lot of them, and they are for the glory of God.!
