Super Simple Sunday

Even Jesus Had to Make Choices

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
Not only did God send His Son,
But the Son had to be willing to come.
I and my Father are one. John 10:30
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
Revelation 22:13
When Jesus was 12 years old He knew why He was on earth, so He stayed behind at the temple. After searching for Him for 3 days Joseph & Mary found Him. He thought he was doing what was right. But they scolded Him and took Him back home. Today he would be considered a runaway.
And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? Luke 2:48-49
And he (Jesus) went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. Luke 2:51-52
When Jesus became of age, He began His ministry.
Jesus knew what it felt like to have to wait for the right time. Between the time He knew and actually started His ministry was about 10 years. He ministered 3 years. In that 3 years He changed the world.
Then knowing what was coming, He had to decide to go through with it.
Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup (death) from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. Luke 22:42
And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Luke 22:44
It was not the nails in His hands that held Jesus on the Cross,
but His love for you and me.
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Matthew 27:46
God had to turn His back,
Because He could not stand to see His son die.
But there was no other way for us to be redeemed.
Now it's our turn, Jesus said: Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20
He won't force us, He wants us to want to. That's why we have freedom of choice, God doesn't want puppets on a string, but a love by choice.
What will our choice be?

That knowing , those 10 years knowing...being subject to his parents must of been so frustrating at times.
Dash is a very knowing child he is so frustrated at it all not making sense, yet he is yet immature...He must mature.
We must all mature.
I would imagine Jesus wished those around him could know what he knew, what he understood...but they could not. Not yet...
He did not walk away from it for that reason. That lonilness he knew must of been a forse to drive him to the fellowship of his father.
That fellowship empowering Him to the fulfillment of his life.
His Mother though...she knew she held it all within her heart to be awake at the time of His rising and bringing in the dawn.
Your post warmed me this morning
thank you.

God gives us the freedom of choice. To chose right or wrong is totally up to us. However, if we choose to let the Holy Spirit guide and instruct us on which direction to take, we would definitely make choices according to the spirit and not according to the flesh.

Thanks so much for this post and sharing God's Word!!
