Mission 4 Monday

Do you have any elderly neighbors that live alone? Do you know them by their name? Do you ever even talk to them? It is very sad, but very true, we rarely talk to our neighbors these days. But, you could change that, and make a great difference. There are so many lonely, and depressed elderly people in this world. They feel useless, and unloved. Why not do something to change their outlook? Make an effort to introduce yourself to them, bake a cake or pie for them. The next time you are going to the grocery store, ask them if they need anything. Offer to mow their yard, or rake their leaves for them. The hand of friendship that you extend to them, will be very much appreciated.

I commend you on your mission for this week - the elderly so often get forgotten and yet their life experiences are so enriching. I lead a weekly service within a Sheltered Housing Complex and, for me, it is the highlight of my week.

This is awesome, Denise!!

I live in an apartment complex. It is amazing--I'll walk by someone and say "Hello, how are you today?" and I usually don't get an answer at all.

I think that the reason for this is because people aren't used to others being friendly to them any more--sad, isn't it?

So, I keep on greeting them anyway!! Someday, they'll see that I mean this and they'll respond back!!

Thanks for your prayers and encouragement to so many.

We have elderly people at our church that hardly ever get visitors! You have spurred me on to consider what I must do!
