In Other Words Tuesday

Christmas can tend to be a very stressful time of the year, people are running from one store to the other, trying to buy the newest, most popular gadgets. Then, they are baking and cooking all the usual holiday delights to take to Christmas parties, or family gatherings. You are running around in circles so much, you get totally stressed out, and lose your focus. By the time you finally slow down, Christmas is over. Remember Jesus? Your focus should be upon Him, not all this worldly stuff. He was the precious gift given to us, no other gift can, or will ever top that. Instead of spending money that you actually should not be spending, why not give gifts that are invaluable? Christmas means so much more than gifts, food, parties, it means we were blessed with the light of the world. So, why are we living in darkness? The Grinch stole Christmas, just like satan is doing right now. When we allow satan to rule our hearts and minds during the Christmas season, he is stealing Christmas from us. When giving expensive gifts, becomes more important than giving our love and time to others, he has stolen our Christmas joy. Wake up people, Jesus is love defined, and He cannot be bought. He came to give us the most priceless gifts ever: salvation, eternal life, mercy, joy unspeakable, love overflowing from the fountain of His heart. So, what should we give to others? Jesus!! Share His word, give Him away. Yes, Christmas is so much more, may you realize that, and refuse to give into the world this Christmas. Instead, give your all to Jesus. Celebrate Him with continuous praise.

Just like my son has always said...from the time he understood Christmas and its meaning...why buy gifts for the one day when we should give of ourselves year 'round. And he's so right.

Oh, a wonderful reminder for me! Last year, I was so sad when Christmas was over because I felt like I hadn't even had the time to enjoy it. I'm making sure things are different this year!

Denise,

This reminder should be on a Hallmark Christmas card. Well said.

We would never purposely allow anyone to steal "our stuff" why do we allow Satan to steal Christmas from us. It's time to pay attention and start giving to Jesus instead of taking from the world. Thanks for your great post.

Americans spend almost as much on Christmas each year than this crazy economic bailout (which I DO NOT support) is costing. That is staggering to me.

Thank you for your wise words.

Amen! We have to work hard to keep our focus on Christ during CHRISTmas among all the commercialism these days. It is so easy to get all caught up in the moment and forget the "Reason For The Season"! I haven't thought much about satan using this as another tool before...so true. We can stay focused, but it takes work...but He is worth it.

Merry CHRISTmas, my friend.

We often say the Grinch and Satan are one in the same this time of year.

"When giving expensive gifts, becomes more important than giving our love and time to others, he has stolen our Christmas joy."

This is so true!

I wrote our Christmas letter this year about joy.

"The Grinch stole Christmas, just like satan is doing right now."
OH! Absolutely. And on so many levels. He steals from beleivers and non-beleivers. If we could back up a few centuries we might come close to understanding what CHRISTMAS is really about.

I appreciate that post Denise, giving of our time and help is far more beautiful than any expensive gift, and it also glorifies our Father in Heaven as we do it unto Him.
