I Remember When......

My dear friend Jean has started a new meme over at her blog. It is called, "I Remember When". Here is what she says about it: Over Thanksgiving and Christmas, I have heard so many wonderful stories about my ancestors. There were also stories, about my childhood, which I totally had forgotten. I have made a mental note of each story and have every intention of documenting it. In order to help me in this area, I have decided to blog a weekly story about my ancestors, and about my childhood. I want to have these stories written down, before my memory escapes from me, and to leave a legacy for my children, and for future generations.Grab the clip art and join me for "I Remember When...". After you blog your story, come back leave a note. I would love to read your story. I think this is a great idea for a meme, so I will be joining in. Every Sunday, I will share a story. : I remember when I was a little girl, I would spend a week with my fraternal grandmother every summer. Her name was Goldie, and the name fit her well. She had a personality that sparkled like gold, and her heart was pure gold. She loved me, and I never doubted that, it was evident by her words, and her actions. She always wanted to cook for me, and I definitely let her. Yummy in my tummy was everything she cooked. She use to hide goodies everywhere in her house, at any moment, she would tell me to go look in her closet, or under her bed, or in her dresser. My search would lead me to find delicious treasures, such as candy bars, cookies, tootsie pops, blow pops, and many more chocolate delights. She loved to hear me sing, and would take me around the neighborhood to visit her many friends. Not just at one house, but at each house, I had to perform. She would tell them, my Nesie can sing so beautifully, she is gonna be famous one day. She would then have me stand up in the middle of the room, and sing, sing, sing. Songs such as Amazing Grace, I'll Fly Away, Jesus Loves Me, and several more. When I was finished, granny would stand up, and applaud me, and then hug me, and tell me how very much she loved me. She always made me feel so special, and I will never forget that. She has been in heaven for many years now, and I am sure she is singing in the heavenly choir, waiting on me to join in one day. Granny, I applaud you for your love, kindness, support, and belief in me. I am looking very forward to joining you in that sweet heavenly choir one day. Thanks for the precious memories.

Thank you for sharing your thought about your grandmother. YOu know I was close to my grandma and I believe that she knew I was alot like her more than I realized that I was like her. She was strict but I loved her. I find out more now after she has been gone for quite a while than I knew before when she was here. She was just someone to be with when I was younger and I love her I believe I learned alot just being with her
