Mission 4 Monday

The National Family Caregivers Association (NFCA) supports, empowers, educates, and speaks up for the more than 50 million Americans who care for a chronically ill, aged, or disabled loved one. NFCA reaches across the boundaries of different diagnoses, different relationships, and different life stages, to address the common needs and concerns of all family caregivers. They are committed to improving the overall quality of life of caregiving families, and minimizing the disparities between family caregivers and non-caregivers. This month is National Family Caregivers Awareness Month. This is something very dear to my heart. I was my mommas caregiver until her death in April 2006. I truly understand all that being a caregiver entails. It can affect you physically, emotionally, and mentally. You give freely of yourself, totally. In my case, it was as if the roles had been reversed. I had become the mother to my momma. If you are a caregiver, please know that I appreciate all you are doing everyday to help someone else, and all that you are giving up, to be there for them. But, more importantly, God loves you, and appreciates you deeply. If you are not a caregiver, but know someone that is, please acknowledge their efforts. If you can, reach out to them, offer some assistance. Caregivers deserve our respect, and appreciation.

There are many ministers of God's love and grace who work silently without any recognition or praise; and I wonder if they feel forgotten. Thank you for devoting a post to these angels.

Denise,

I appreciate your sharing this awesome post. My hat is off to all people who care for those who can't care for themselves. This is an awesome tribute to caregivers.

Blessings,
Mary
