Seek The Lord Sunday

I found a new meme over here Here is the topic for today: This week, we are looking at the Psalms. Do you have a favorite? Or is there one that speaks to you recently? Wow, there is definitely one that has been speaking straight to me recently. It is Psalm 6: 1-2 Please, God, no more yelling, no more trips to the woodshed. Treat me nice for a change; I'm so starved for affection. 2-3 Can't you see I'm black-and-blue, beat up badly in bones and soul? God, how long will it take for you to let up? 4-5 Break in, God, and break up this fight; if you love me at all, get me out of here. I'm no good to you dead, am I? I can't sing in your choir if I'm buried in some tomb! 6-7 I'm tired of all this—so tired. My bed has been floating forty days and nights On the flood of my tears. My mattress is soaked, soggy with tears. The sockets of my eyes are black holes; nearly blind, I squint and grope. 8-9 Get out of here, you Devil's crew: at last God has heard my sobs. My requests have all been granted, my prayers are answered. 10 Cowards, my enemies disappear. Disgraced, they turn tail and run. ( taken from the message) My diabetes has really been trying to get the best of me. I have not been feeling well at all, physically, I am a wreck. This disease that took my brothers life back in June, is trying to take over my life. But, I refuse to let it. I have cried out to God, and He heard my cries. I am not in this battle alone, we are going to knock this disease back to hell where it belongs. It may get me down at times, but I will never let go of my life, or give up this battle. My Father God and I will be victorious. Diabetes, you will not win!!

I LOVE Psalm 42

1 my soul pants for you, O God.

2 My soul thirsts for God

(Hes all I need all I ever need)

4 I can pour out my soul to Him

5 I use to follow the multitude
Now I can go His way :)

6 When I am down I can "put [my] hope in God
I [can] praise Him,He is always there, He is so faithful

8 By day the LORD directs his love,
And guides me

9 He is my Rock
The evil one doesnt have a chance

10 I maybe getting older and sometimes have a sore back but He will see me though
I will not listen to the evil one even when he taunts me

11 I put my "hope in God",
I praise him
"my Savior and my God."

What would we do without the Psalms? They have lifted my spirit so many times. Curtis and I have memorized several Psalms and many times when we are driving somewhere we go over them together.

I have several that I consider favorite's but verse 3 in Psalms 37 has been very meaningful. "Trust and do good. ."There have been times in our life that we have repeated this a number of times. Trust and do good. . do good. . just do good.
No retaliation when we have been treated unfairly,.. just do good!
And trust God!

I always enjoy your post and all the lovely pictures you have is an added bonus!

I am inspired by your courage. And your Psalm selection is one of my favorites. It so fits all that I have been through lately with the death of my dog and then immediately my aunt. Hugs to you dear sister. I ask Jesus for healing for your body-it seems He is already ministering well to your soul!~

Denise,

After I read this post, (I too am down with a migraine this morning) I read the 13th Psalm.

"How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
Consider and hear me, Oh Lord, my God; Englighten my eyes, Lest I sleep the sleep of death; Lest my enemy say, I have prevailed against him; Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am removed.
But I have TRUSTED in Your mercy, My heart shall REJOICE in Your salvation. I will SING to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me"

It is interesting to me how often often prayer changes us! The whole attitude of the psalmist was changed as he prayed...did you notice that? God changes our hearts, giving us a new confidence...and I hear it in your words...you will beat this...you will have victory!

In the beginning of this Psalm David started out in distress saying how long O Lord will you forget me forever? But by the end of his prayer he had changed and said I will sing to the Lord because he has dealt with me bountifully.

Coming into the presence of God and crying out to Him changes everything!!! We come into His presence with hope of changing God's mind about something...usually our circumstances but often I find the result is much like David's...I walk away changed!

I know this is long...I pray as you have cried out to the Lord, you have been touched by His mercy and His bountiful blessings! I remain prayerful for your healing.

Your sister, Debbie

I cannot honestly pick one favorite, but 46:10, Be still and know that I am God... is sure a life verse that I need to listen to more often.
