In Other Words Tuesday

Amy is hosting this week. This weeks quote is: “Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody,I think that is a much greater hunger,a much greater poverty, than the person who has nothing to eat…We must find each other.” ~Mother Teresa~ There have been times throughout my life, when money and food were both rare items. I have known what it was like to miss several meals, laying in bed at night listening to the growling sounds of hunger that were coming from my stomach. I have also known deep dark loneliness, rejection, and fear. The hunger of a hurting, unloved, uncared for heart is much worse than a hungry stomach. It is easy to cure a hungry stomach, fill it with food. Curing a hungry heart, is not that simple. There are so many people walking around today in critical condition, hearts are broken and bleeding profusely. They are in dire need of love and compassion. I feel like screaming sometimes:Wake up people!! Quit ignoring what is right in front of you, take your eyes off of yourself, and put them upon your hurting brothers and sisters. Do not always expect someone else to reach out to the hurting, reach your hands out, pull someone up out of the hell and darkness of loneliness. We are Christians, that means Christ living in me. Christ is the definition of true love, so start sharing that love. Quit saying you are a Christian, and start showing you are a Christian. Christ is love in action. People are dying from lack of love, take action today. Give the precious gift of life, love, love, and more love.

We do need to wake up. We need to step out of the comfort zone. We need to slow down and truly see what is around and infront of us.

Very well said and great post!

Boy you hit the nail on the head. The hunger of hurting and feeling unloved is a big thing. It isn't so easily cured like the morning hunger for breakfast. We definitely need to take action. Oooo isn't that a dirty word "TAKE ACTION" that means we have to do something! Thanks fellow IOW writer.

Thanks for sharing Denise...my post was written before I read this, but perhaps I should link up today. I think this "calling" I am feeling for the people in my area is just what you said. We will hop on a plane and travel thousands of miles to tell a stranger about Jesus, but we won't take a glass of tea across the street and tell our neighbors. Somehow we have fallen asleep to their needs. Thanks so much for your heart and your words. And by the way...you posted that I had been given a beautiful heart by God...you are right...He gave me His and it is a far better heart than the one he removed.

Love your sister,

Amanda B.

We need this wake-up call.

The Lord has reached out to me many times through a friend when I was hurting. Sometimes that's even been you, dear Denise. {{hugs}} I know that you do what you talk about here.

Sometimes people truly are distracted by their own personal pain...the devil keeps busy at throwing crap at us all. But instead of commiserating, we can support each other, and all the more as the Day approaches.

I'm glad you posted on this subject. Friends and family around me are all dying. Let's not wait until it's too late to show we love and care. God bless you, Denise.

It is absolutely true- emotional pain is much worse than any physical pain I have ever experienced.

Hello sister Denise,

Thank you for your kind comment on my blog.

I LOVE your message today on this post! Often, I get so caught up in my little world (but it's okay, b/c everyone knows me here...ha, ha), that I forget to step out and live what the Apostle John said in 1 John 3:18:

"Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth."

What wonderful exhortation my sweet sister...and in so doing we minister to our own hearts for it is more blessed to give than to receive. I love how that works!

That old saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never heart me" is SO WRONG! Cruel words, emotional abuse hearts. So many people today are on the path of the walking wounded, their pain unseen to most.

I like your take on this quote. Love is an action verb. You made an impact.
