Flashback Friday-Childhood Toys
When I was a little girl some of my toys were:Care bears, Strawberry Shortcake, hula hoops, slinkys, and my favorite toy was the barbie beauty center. I remember when I first saw a commercial about the barbie beauty center, I fell in love with it. I wanted it so much, I asked my momma if she would please buy it for me. She promised that she would think about it. My dad was in prison at the time, and financially, things were really tough. My momma was working at a carpet mill trying to take care of me and my brother. I was in the 4th grade, and my brother was in the 10th grade. Momma worked so very hard to provide for us, and she did a wonderful job. In my heart, I knew that momma wanted to get that for me, but that she did not have the money to waste on a toy. I loved her, and I truly understood. Well, Christmas Eve, my momma told me that I could go ahead and open one gift. Of course, I picked the biggest box under the tree. I quickly tore the beautiful wrapping paper off, and immediately began to cry like a baby. My momma had bought me a barbie beauty center, my heart was so full. I ran over to her, and clung onto her for so long. I kept telling her how much I loved her, and thanking her over and over. Momma also cried, and told me she loved me. There was no need for her to tell me she loved me, that was very evident. I know that my momma made many sacrifices for her children her entire life, and I will forever love and appreciate her for that. My barbie beauty center was the most precious gift ever given to me, straight from my mommas heart.

I think this is by far the best post of the day. It literally brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for joining the Meme.
What a great memory. I don't know if I had the same thing but something like that. It was a head and you could do her hair and put on makeup. I never really got into dolls...but I loved this.
I am glad that you have this beautiful memory....your Mom sounds like a very giving woman...just like you.

What a lovely example of God's provision and grace through your mom. And what a lovely example of joy and gratitude in you. I bet she was soooo thrilled to make that gift a reality for you.
I remember you always had the coolest toys. But I still remember just throwing a ball back & forth & having a great time. Remember all the records you had? We listened to them for hours. Delta Dawn! WOW. Does everyone on here know what a beautiful singing voice you have?
