Guard Your Tongue-Words Can Hurt

Recently, there have been several of my friends that have been stung, by the hurtful venom of someones biting tongue. I have to add myself to that list, comments have been made to me regarding my thinning hair. Never think that words do not hurt, they are like daggers, and they hit their intended mark, our hearts. We need to constantly guard our tongues, pray over our words. Make sure you use your words as a sweet balm to someones heart and soul, not as a weapon of destruction. To anyone that has been hurt recently, by someones sharp biting words, I am sorry for your pain. Jesus loves you so much, and He truly does feel your every hurt. He is the ultimate balm for your hurting and weary, heart and soul. Lay your hurts down, He wants to replace them with His joy. Be blessed my friends, I love you all.

Thanks Denise for that post! I can still remember things that were said to me when I was young! Yes words can hurt, and like I have told my son, you can't take them back once they are out there! thanks for sharing your heart!

Ah Denise, I'm so sorry. Hearing the hurtful words of others - whether they intended to be hurtful or not - is so difficult. Those of us who have been forgiven so much by Christ are able to forgive...but the hurt can still remain. Jesus knows your pain sweetie. He suffered insults hurled at him even as He died for those who insulted him. He knows EXACTLY how you are hurting and He offers you his comfort.

I love you Denise and you are beautiful in every way.

Denise,
Though I rarely comment, you're on my bloglines and I read and pray for you daily - or more.

I ache to hear how you have been hurt. I am so, so sorry.

The Bible speaks to long hair being a woman's glory. I think our feelings about our hair are inborn to some extent. There is a natural mourning and grieving when we lose it for whatever reason. For a friend, losing her hair to chemo was more devastating than losing her breast to cancer she told me. I'm not sure that remained the case - but it certainly speaks to how our hair is so much more than just *hair*. Am I making any sense? (Last night was a painful, sleepless night.)

Denise, know that you are dearly loved. Know that you are prayed for. Know that the Lord is not oblivious to your tears and that a day is coming when they will be wiped away forever.

Much love, dear sister,
In Christ alone,
Kari

I am so sorry that people have said hurtful things to you about your hair. I just can't understand why any adult would feel the need to put someone else down.

I'm sorry to hear this happened to you. You're right, words do hurt and people should be careful to watch what comes out of their mouths. This is one time that what goes around usually comes around so people should really guard against speaking ugly of others.

I'm sorry you've been hurt recently.

Thanks for the reminder about being careful with what I say. Words are so powerful...positively or negatively.

I am so sorry you have been hurt.
Sometimes people just do not have a clue and then sometimes they want to hurt because they are hurting.
I know of this also.
Words leave scars that do not always heal as easily as a cut.
Tomorrow I will get a chance to see if I have really forgiven.
And it is important to remember that just because I forgive does not always mean that a loving relationship is going to happen.
But I will love anyway.
Praying and remembering that those who mourn and hurt will be comforted. Daddy God cares. :)

My heart aches for your pain and I pray that your medicine works. I also will pray that those who have said such hurtful things to you will be awakened to their thoughtless ways. Keep the faith. God loves you inside and out.

I, at times, am guilty of this. I'm really sorry that you got stung.
I used to be ill tempered and used to utter bad things without thinking. Now I could say that I'm just a little ill tempered and I pray that I could totally control saying hurtful things to anyone.

You are right, Denise. Words can hurt like a dagger. I have been on the receiving side as well.
I just shared this with someone else (not sure where I heard the quote): God gave us two ears - but only one mouth to speak.
We truly need to think about what comes out of our mouths (and fingertips when writing).
Thank you for the reminder to always keep the tongue in check.

What a wonderful post!

I pray often that God will help me guard my tongue! I tend to be a bit sarcastic in my tone but I hope to never hurt anyone.

Thanks for the reminder to always be on guard when we are speaking!
