The Story Of Us

My dear friend Gretchen, over at http://goodenough4now.blogspot.com/ wanted to know how I met Eddie, or as she put it, how I met my hunka-hunka burning love Eddie, lol Well, in the summer of 1984, I was working at an amusement park here in Chattanooga called Lake Winnepesaukah. I ran the fun house, woo hoo!! One day, this guy kept coming through, over and over. He would not stop talking to me, his name was Darrell. He asked me out, I said no thank you. He came to the park every other day, repeatedly asking me out, I always told him no. When the park closed for the winter, I thought that would be the end of Darrell. Wrong, unknown to me, he had followed me home from work one night. So, one day in November, a car pulls up in my driveway, and Darrell is ringing my doorbell. Help!! I open the door, he says hello Denise, how are you? I try to be as polite as I can be, by this time I have spotted a hunk in the car. I say, who is that in the car, your brother? He says no, that is my best friend Eddie. Darrell did not have a car, so dear Eddie had drove him to see me. I endured a couple of hours of talking outside with Darrell, and Eddie. Well, let me tell you, no joke, it was love at first sight. I fell head over heels for Eddie. Darrell had to go, lol Truly, I am thankful for Darrell, if not for him, I would never have met Eddie. Eddie and I met in November of 1984, he asked me to marry him in December of 1984, we got married on April 6 1985. This April, we will celebrate 23 years of marriage. I thank God everyday for bringing us together. That is how I met my hunka hunka burning love!!

Good Morning Denise,
I had to come read your beautiful Love Story. Isn't GOD wonderful? I have been married once before but never had any kids. I had dated several guys after that. I had finally given up on finding Mr. Right. I was working at a factory here in the town I live in and was working with this girl. We talked everyday. One day during December of 1994, she told me she had a brother that was looking for someone. I told her to tell him I'm available. LOL. During the Christmas Holidays, I would get down because I had no one special to share it with. My Sister had her husband and my Parents had each other, but I had no one and I would always get down and depressed during this time. A couple of weeks before Christmas, I fixed my DH now, a Christmas Card with my phone number in it and gave it to his Sister at work on a Saturday that we had to work. We got off of work at noon. Shortly after I got home, my DH called me and we talked for about an hour. The next Sunday, I came to meet him. Let me tell you something girlfriend, when he opened up his front door, I thought my heart was going to drop. He had the most beautiful Sky Blue Eyes. I just about melted. We started dating after that and then in Janurary, he asked me to marry him. I said yes of course. I mean, I never thought I would have a chance with him. We got married in March of 1995 and we will be celebrating our 13th Wedding Anniversary this coming March. God does Bless us when we least expect it huh? "THANK YOU" for sharing such a wonderful Love Story with us. I enjoyed reading it. And, I know it's early yet, but, "HAPPY 23rd Wedding Anniversary" coming up. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours. I posted about my Awards on my today's post. "THANK YOU" so much again for them.

Love you and Hugs,
Karen H.

What a fantastic story! Good thing you were polite to Darrell, or you'd never have met Eddie. Sounds like it was love at first sight for hunka hunka, too. :)

Thanks for answering my question.

What a fabulous story, I was gripped from beginning to end. What happened to Darrell did he stay in touch over the years?

I met my husband in Scotland, I was working with Youth With A Mission on the Intercession Team and he came over from New Zealand to do a course. I am from the UK.

My first marriage had ended after 7 years and I so did not want a relationship with anyone - long story in itself. Anyway, time and God intervened we fell in love.

He whisked me to Paris and proposed to me by the River Seine in March 1998 and we left Scotland November 1998, moved to NZ in December 1998 and married here in March 1999.

Well can I tell you that was a blast from the past. Every summer when we would make the trip to Lookout Mountain to stay at Covenant College for our CBMC conference the teens would go to Lake Winapa soka(our name for it). How much you wanna make a bet that I passed you there? We attend this conference from the time I as 5 until I turned 18. It has since moved to N.C.
That is really too funny.
It is truly a small world.
I have always love Chattanooga. It brings back such good childhood memories for me. I think that is why I picked Bryan College in Dayton TN for college. I only went there for two years and then transfered home for a guy. The wrong guy I might add.
I am glad you found Eddie--God knew what type of man you would need. I pray that GOd will continue to bless you and your marriage.
Thanks for this post--it brought back some great memories.
