I Am Bible Study-Lesson Ten-Keeping It In The Family

Discussion Questions:
1. Have you ever experienced trials that were best dealt with "in the family" for either your reputation's sake or God's? Yes, I have.
2. Have you ever found yourself in a bizarre circumstance and later were able to walk someone through the same/similar situation? Did you recognize the hand of God in it? Definitely yes. I have been through my parents divorce, sexual abuse, and the caregiving, and death of my momma. Through these events, I have gained strength by the hand of God. I feel I am now equipped to help others in similar experiences.
3. I was in my late twenties before I ever let myself believe God was for me instead of waiting to smack me upside the head everytime I made a mistake. Do you truly believe God is on your side?Yes, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God is right beside me, and I praise Him for His closeness.
4. If God has ever had you in the Holy Spirit Chokehold (and who hasn't He?), how have you reacted to God's chastisement? Were you bitter? Brokenhearted? Grateful? At first brokenhearted, actually totally broken. But, I needed to be broken, so God could repair what needed fixing. I am so very grateful for His repairs.
5. Write a brief prayer of Thanksgiving for God's longsuffering. Dear Heavenly Father, I praise You for loving me as I am. Thank You for being more than patient with me, for picking me up, and dusting me off when I fall down. For being so willing to stay beside me all the days of my life. I love You with all I am. Amen

Gracious Father, I know you haven't left me but I do know you are giving me time to get my act together before you can get on with stoking that refining fire. Forgive me for not being where you need me to be so that I can hear you.
For me, I know I just have to wait. I will soon hear God again.

"Brokenness, brokenness is what I long for. Brokenness is what I need...Brokenness, brokenness is what you want from me.." Your answers reminded me of the worship song with those lyrics. I wish I could remember the title. :) Thanks for your lovely responses to this lesson. love you.
